Shanghai Totole Food Ltd. was founded in 1988 and is one of the industry standard-setting units for chicken bouillon and Chicken powder flavour seasoning in China. In 1999, it joined Nestle, a world-renowned food and beverage company, to make full use of international resources to accelerate product and technology development. With the corporate vision of "Totole makes life better", Totole has been committed to the research and promotion of Xian science, driving technological innovation in the Xian industry, and constantly bringing consumers a new generation of healthy and delicious condiments.

OUR MISSION

Totole products cover different series of solid compound flavor seasoning and liquid freshness-enhancing seasoning, with several sub-brands and nearly 300 items of product specifications. With Nestle's international management system, global quality control system, strong R&D strength and excellent staff team, Totole's sales network covers all over the country and is exported to the United States, Canada, Japan, the Middle East and other countries and regions, relying on four major sales channels including restaurants, retail, e-commerce and export. From the very beginning, Totole has realized the importance of food hygiene and safety to a food company, and has been regulating its operation with high standards and strict requirements. We pay attention to the quality and safety control of raw materials at source, and adhere to the supplier management model of "strict selection, win-win, and sustainable development". It ensures the quality and safety of the high-risk raw animal and plant materials by promoting suppliers to build their own breeding bases, scientifically selecting nutritionally balanced feeds, and strictly monitoring the soil conditions of the production areas, thus providing a guarantee for the realization of "the same source of taste and material" and the achievement of "good taste". Based on risk management thinking, we implement preventive management for the whole process of product manufacturing, set up each quality control in each link, such as raw material acceptance, production processing, finished products out of storage, storage and logistics, etc., and pursue one-time production of qualified products. In the road of Totole's growth and development, the company has introduced international advanced quality and food safety management standards, such as HACCP, ISO9001, ISO22000, FSSC22000, etc., and integrated the essence of the company’s management over the years to build a multi-system integrated quality management system that meets the actual operational needs and is rich in Totole's characteristics. The system covers all aspects and processes of the company’s product development, supply chain, production, sales and service and brand building, thus escorting the company’s full speed forward.

COMPLIANCE

Compliance is a basic requirement for all business development. Totole clearly points out that "compliance is the uncompromising cornerstone of all businesses". The compliance management system is built up by system formulation, compliance culture implementation, compliance training, reporting and inspection, supervision and execution, post-event accountability, discipline and prevention, and handling of litigation cases. With the continuous improvement of the compliance management system, both the company staff and upstream and downstream enterprises can follow the "strict requirements" of Totole. They can strictly comply with the rules and regulations of Totole, and achieve the prevention of compliance risks beforehand. We also make full use of compliance inspection and compliance due diligence to achieve effective detection and supervision during the process. Risks cannot be eliminated, and part of the non-compliance risk will always become a reality. The company will firmly dispose of non-compliance items, give full play to SpeakUp (a complaint reporting system), and speak up the non-compliance items by your side. The accountability should be compliant and employees' illegal, irregular and disciplinary actions should be held accountable to achieve compliance after the event, and ultimately ensure the overall healthy and sustainable development of the company’s business.

Totole considers sustainability as one of the “four cornerstones” of its business development. As a member of the Nestlé family, Totole is strictly aligned with the “Nestlé Net Zero Carbon Roadmap” and has made a solemn commitment to achieve the goal of net zero carbon emissions together with Nestlé Group by 2050.
As one of the benchmark enterprises in the domestic seasoning industry, Totole, with the corporate vision of “Totole makes life better”, has always taken sustainable development as one of the “four cornerstones” of its corporate development, and as a member of the Nestlé family, Totole has solemnly committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions together with Nestlé by 2050. Under the commitment, we will continue to deepen the practice and implementation in four areas: low-carbon manufacturing, sustainable packaging, green logistics and internal and external communication, with the “Net Zero Carbon Roadmap” and the national “Double Carbon” target policy as the guide.

  • Low-carbon manufacturing

    Totole focuses on reducing carbon emissions by reducing waste, using new technologies and new energy sources.
    • Totole was awarded the title of “Green Factory” (4-star) by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology in 2020.

    • Totole was awarded the title of “Shanghai 2022 Green Supply Chain Management Enterprise” (5-star) by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology in 2022.

  • Sustainable Packaging

    Totole continues to make its efforts in three areas: reduction of virgin plastic use, recycled design and plastic recycling neutrality. The goal is to achieve 100% recycled or reusable packaging by 2025; and to reduce the use of virgin plastics in packaging by one third by 2025.

    • Eliminating carton lamination;

    • Changing chicken bouillon seasoning cans with dark lids to light colors;

    • Replacing bottle caps of Maggi seasoning 800ml;

    • Reducing weigh of 1.8 Soy sauce PET bottle;

    • Entrusting a qualified third party to recycle and reuse waste flexible packaging generated by the factory.

  • Green logistics

    • Actively promoting greener transportation, for example, increasing the use of electric new energy vehicles; at the same time, the company is the first to introduce the use of hydrogen energy logistics vehicles in the industry;

    • Optimizing transportation, for instance, increasing the proportion of railroad and waterway transportation and optimizing transportation routes;

    • Improving vehicle loading rate including optimizing cargo loading method and improving unit vehicle loading capacity to reduce the total amount of vehicles required for logistics, thus reducing energy consumption;

    • Increasing the number of direct factory shipments to customers and reducing carbon emissions.

  • Internal and external communication

    • Green office and promotional activities for employees: advocate all employees to save energy, reduce waste and use recyclable products in daily life and work;

    • Promoting sustainable development roadshow for Totole employees, and guiding each employee to be a sustainable development ambassador;

    • Linking up with upstream and downstream partners in the industry chain to carry out recycling projects for waste flexible packaging. Cooperate with Yonghui Supermarket to set up plastic packaging recycling machines in supermarkets to build a closed-loop recycling system for plastic food packaging together with consumers;

    • Totole joined hands with “Love Sorting and Love Recycling” to bring sustainable projects down to the community, advocating accurate delivery and recycling of recyclables in several communities in Yangpu and Hongkou Districts in Shanghai, and returning leisure benches made of recycled fiber-plastic panels mixed with used clothes and plastic to the community.
